New Life is an evangelical church
We believe that all Christians are converts. No one is born a Christian. They must personally come to faith in Christ and be born again as Jesus taught in John 3. This conversion occurs when an individual comes to terms with the Good News of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. This happens through repentance and faith in Christ. This happens through the communication of the Good News of salvation in Jesus Christ and the work of the Holy Spirit.
How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!” (Romans 10:14-15 ESV)
The Good News is that everyone has sinned and broken God’s law, but God has made a way for us to find peace with Him. The Bible teaches that death is the result of sin. Because we all have broken God’s holy and perfect law, we all deserve to be excluded from His kingdom and likewise face the eternal consequences of our transgressions.
Yet, Jesus Christ offered Himself as a sacrifice for our sins and died in our place so that we might live and have eternal life. Through His sacrifice on the cross on our behalf He has saved His people from the consequences of their sins. He rose from the dead and has ascended to heaven. At some point in the future He will return to complete what has been foretold in the Bible.
Before He ascended to heaven He commissioned His followers to make disciples of all people everywhere. As followers of Christ, we believe we are personally responsible to share the Good News, the Gospel, with all people so that they too may believe and receive the gracious gift of eternal life.
