Growing Up With The Church
The teen years are a very important period of transition from childhood to adulthood. One of our our main goals is to help our kids integrate into the church as they grow in age and in faith. We encourage our teens to bring friends, grow in fellowship with one another, and learning about Jesus, and why His life and death should matter to each teen life. Our Youth Director, Jeff Smith and his wife Cassy have been leading the kids on Sundays and the teen gatherings.
Sundays at New Life
Our youth and teens (Middle School and High School students) meet weekly on Sunday mornings starting at 9:00am as a group led by Jeff and Cassy Smith. During this time they do various topical Bible studies to learn to read the Bible together and apply it to their lives. Sometimes they have breakfast together or go out for doughnuts. The teens also help teach some of the younger classes from time-to-time, and they have been helping with the Building and Grounds Committee. They are also encouraged to help with the Sunday morning worship services as greeters, production, or on the praise team.
Monthly Get Togethers and Outings
In addition to our Sunday school gathering, they meet monthly for prayer, encouragement, study, games, missions, and other fun activities. Sometimes they play some volleyball, disc golf, have a movie night, or go tobogganing in the winter.
Annual Events and Outreaches
The past few years we have hosted the Medina Teen Dodgeball World Championship and the Medina Teen Kickball Challenge at Fred Greenwood Park each Summer. We’ve had great turnouts. We usually give out some prizes and have free food and music. Each year the events have grown in size. We hope to ultimately impact the lives of the teens in our community and their families. Look for these events and more in the coming year.
